The first time your dog finishes his bowl without any stomach ache or itching, you’ll notice the difference straight away. No scratching after meals, no restless scraping across the floor. Grain-free dog food makes life a lot easier for many dogs, especially if they have a sensitive reaction to standard kibble.
Some dogs experience stomach problems as soon as their food contains grains. These can include flatulence, loose stools or even diarrhoea. Skin problems, such as itching or a dull coat, can also indicate a reaction to wheat, maize or other grains. Grain-free dog food contains no wheat or maize, but is often based on potatoes, peas or sweet potatoes. This ensures the kibble remains easily digestible, without any unnecessary fillers.
At Puro, we don’t just focus on the absence of grains. We pay attention to the balance between proteins and fats, so that your dog gets enough energy without putting too much strain on their digestive system.
You’ll notice the difference as soon as you open the bag. It doesn’t have a strong smell, but a neutral, natural scent. Dogs with sensitive stomachs often respond positively to this product straight away. You’ll see the results in a glossy coat and firm stools.
At Puro, we use only high-quality ingredients, free from artificial fragrances, colourings or flavourings.
Does your dog seem restless in his bed after eating, or does he have a bloated tummy or loose stools? Then you’ll know straight away that something’s not right with his food. Not every dog’s body can digest everything just like that. You’ll notice the difference in behaviour and energy levels particularly if your dog has a sensitive stomach and gut.
Not every ingredient is equally easy to digest. Some dogs react strongly to wheat, pork or artificial additives. In our recipes for dogs with sensitive stomachs, we use only ingredients known for their gentle effect on digestion. For example, we omit pork and wheat from the varieties designed for sensitive stomachs. We tailor the protein source to what dogs tolerate well, such as lamb, salmon or chicken.
As a result, these kibbles are easier on the stomach. You’ll notice the difference in the form of fewer leftovers in the dog’s bowl and no more messy stools. Even in dogs that used to suffer from stomach ache frequently, you’ll see a difference after just a few days.
A dog with a sensitive stomach often shows subtle signs. Lethargy after eating, eating grass more often, or, conversely, a rumbling tummy. Sometimes you can even tell by the smell of their breath. With puppies, you’ll notice it quickly if they’re growing less. Older dogs are more likely to experience problems following a change in diet or a course of antibiotics.
Not all symptoms are a direct indication of food sensitivity. However, switching to a specialised diet can make a big difference. In the blog help my dog has diarrhoea You’ll find out how to recognise diarrhoea and what you can do to prevent it
